all about me

I was born and raised by grunge-hippy musician artists, right here in Riverside. My parents homeschooled my sister and I from 3rd grade on… that’s right and proud of it.  I was somewhat of a tom-boy in high school, while the girls talked about boys and went shopping, I hung out with the boys and was known to enjoy a great spiritual debate (or argument).

I grew up in a small family church where everyone knew your name and what you did.  I knew all the right answers and did all the right things.  Sandals for me has been more of a heart-hands-feet knowledge, and I’m still learning to let go of the “do and say right” expectations.

I’ve been attending Sandals since the fall of 1999, at Bridges, and started serving in 2001 doing chairs and communion, at the CBU gym.  In 2003, God moved me away from my Christian retail job into a small group support position here, when we had only 30 groups.  Since then I’ve done database entry, CD ministry, Tent City, Bean Real coffee ministry, event planning, graphic design, front desk reception, stage design, printer IT… you name it!

I am a creative perfectionist, and those two don’t always play nice, but I am learning that, “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.”  ~Scott Adams

I am a hands on baker, painter, and eater, just not in that order. I enjoy coffee and dark chocolate, and love making them with or for friends. I love watching scifi (not syfy), romantic comedies and old classics like “Funny Face” and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”. Roadtrips are the best with music you can sing to at the top of your lungs. I am a true blue Dodger fan, win or lose. When I’m not at Sandals you might find me grabbing an Iced Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks or eating chicken at Chick-fil-A.

Can’t hardly wait to see where God takes me next…
