we need/want evidence
i love watching “bones”. but i didn’t start watching until last season so i’ve been watching reruns of the past 2 seasons.
tonight booth and brennan were discussing how a parent could kill their child. brennan, knowing booths religious beliefs, brings up abraham and isaac. when God asks abraham to sacrifice his only son.
brennan believes in pure science, yet she understands that it was a lesson in faith while booth can’t get past the question to see the lesson
God never intended for abraham to kill isaac. God wasn’t asking him to give up the promise, he was asking for evidence of their relationship. Did abraham have faith, did he trust that God would keep his promise?
our God is a relational God. just as in a marriage relationship, you know your spouse loves you, but you still need/want evidence of that love.
